See for me Balthazar is much harder to take out than Lyssa. I mopped the floor with Lyssa when I went to cap from her.
Though I have capped/helped cap Balthazar 4 times and the build I posted worked like a charm everytime I have done it.

I caped it myself last night with full group of henchmen and the ranger hero. Ranger hero with poison arrow. Kill all roaming monsters in the area 1st. Go for the side entrance. Set flags far away from fortress. Run to agro his group and flee to your group. They will follow, attack the non boss creatures first. Kill the Priests, Scribes, Paragons, and then melee and rangers. After all of them are dead go for Acolyte. I did die after killing all the minor guys, but had no problem defeating him when I returned with a -15% penalty. I also had the Merlandu Avatar going which helps a bit. Note: Dervish primary Merlandu Avatar requires 25 energy so you can not activate it with a DP penalty. I am looking for an off hand to equip so I can activate the spell. A nice -1 regeneration + 12 energy should do the trick.

Never had any trouble capping AoB, just used a standard hero/hench full team and went exploring.

Kill as many surrounding Kournans as you can first.
The easiest henchy/hero setup vs him = Earth Henchy + Earth/Wards Hero = GG.
Cheers!

I used the following:
-- Tahlkora as a healer with an elite healing spell;
-- Dunkoro as a protector with an elite spell;
-- Koss as a W/Mo with self healing and protection;
-- Devona;
-- Kihm the healer henchie;
-- the paragon "motivational" henchie and
-- the illusion henchie for interrupt.
I didn't bother with the archers on the sides, I just went for the priest first, then the spotter. We got wiped soon after that, but I had activated the res shrine to the south-east. With the spotter down, we could get in nice and close.
I had Tahlkora and Dunkoro stand outside against the wall to heal and protect me thru it while taking minimal dmg themselves. I had Koss approach from the right hand side as a distraction to the guards, then the rest of my troupe came in from the left. We took out all the guards but the Acolytes AoE got us all... We res'd again and I used the same tactic, but with only the Acolyte left, it was a quick fight.

i had some issues with this one.
what i did eventually was i parked my heroes and hencies away from the castle where he is, and then micromanaged sousuke (ele hero) and used him to take out the few groups of kourman on the outer sides through the wall with meteor shower, rodgarts invo, immolate, etc... if you try this, make sure you set sousuke to, not attack and not guard, the last option, do nothing/defend or whatever its called. if you dont, he may get crazy and try and run in and aggro everything himself hehe
then i just got lucky and went in and took out the other kourman and then the acolyte last.

I capped all 5, AoB was the hardest, then lyssa, the rest were easy. I had 60 dp for balt and lyssa. Did not want to go in and have to re-kill everything, so kept trying till i got em. Persistence pays off.

this works for any avatar except for melandru "BLIND" they cant hit anything with blind on em so you just stand there and hack them to pieces while they swing aimlessly at you...

Aah yes, forgot that. But it's basicly all about pulling, don't take on groups that you can't handle
Devona also helps btw, she does KD once in a while so that could be usefull... Or other warrior counter like mesmer and necro hexes could kill the Acolytes quite fast.

Indeed. I think most post agree that if you don't have an air spiker or interrupter, that you pull the groups and kill them off one by one...
I have to admit it was pretty difficult for me to cap too, even more difficult since I had no death wish whatsoever ( == halfway second survivor title ). My group consisted of:
Heroes: 1x Mo (healer) - 1x E (Nuker) - 1x W (Err... no specific function, just bashing!! ^.^ )
Henchies: 2x Mo - 1x E (Earth) - 1x P (Motivation)
Aggroing the group with the power of manual Sousuke control worked pretty well. Just send the rest of your heroes to the back. Once they'll come after Sousuke and he is safe, cancel hero orders and attack one person that is NOT the avatar. After the kill, run away, repeat over. Lengthy approach (took me about 15-20 minutes), but it was worthwile and did not got killed
Good luck with capping it!
Although, some suggestions pointed here might be interesting too (PS, and such!).

Anyone try pacifism (monk skill)? Just have hero monks cast it alternating the recharge and when the aura wears off, kill him.
